Please, do something about Tuesday night.
I admittedly watch too much TV. But, it is my thing. When I am not covering night meetings for the Courier-News, I have my dedicated viewing hours. I can do a lot while watching TV, including crocheting, working out on the Gazelle (OK, no laughing friends, it is at least a possibility), even baking. And I have a DVR, too, so I can tape one show while watching another or, actually leave the house and know that I will still have the joy of hearing a great turn of phrase from truly good writers. Cause there are a lot of good scripted shows on the air right now!
But Tuesday nights are a complete dry spell, it is the catch-up night if there are things on the DVR to watch, or I often re-watch favorites. There is NOTHING on that I care to watch, which is kinda crazy because it used to be a night where I had to (pre-DVR) tape two shows on two different TVs while watching one live.
But I do not care about NCIS or its spin off. Never watched it to begin with, and my "procedurals" are SVU, L&O, Bones and Castle, not looking to add any more. I did 90210 the first time around, not interested this time around and ditto with Melrose Place. Either dancing show? Eh. Sorry, not interested.
I refuse to watch Leno out of principal (cheapskates that NBC is). I mean, look at its Tuesday schedule, the whole network should be embarrassed. Two hours (?!) of Biggest Loser and Leno? Really? The former kings of broadcast TV have been reduced to this?
I wouldn't mind watching the NBC lineup that is on Thursday nights. I like The Office, I could give 30 Rock a chance, as well as Community and Parks/Rec. But, since Thursday is already DVR'ed to the hilt with Vampire Diaries (guilty pleasure), Supernatural, Bones and Fringe, I have no time for your network that night.
A breakdown:
Monday: HIMYM, House, BBT, and Castle. If timed correctly, I am still done by 10:15 p.m.
Tuesday: Nothing now that Warehouse 13 is on hiatus.
Wednesday: Glee, SVU, Destination Truth and Ghost Hunters. Never get to bed before 11 p.m. and those are my only two "reality shows." There are other shows on Wednesday I would like to give a chance, namely Cougar Town and Modern Family, which I watched on Hulu. They are going to stay there ... hmm, maybe Tuesday night will be Hulu night.
Thursday: see above. Tends to be a long night since they are all hour-long shows, or I catch up on Saturday, which is also when I watch The Office on Hulu.
Friday: Dollhouse, Stargate Universe (which may or may not get dumped for lack of Rodney McKay), L&O, and Sanctuary. This is messing with my social life however.
Saturday is a wash, of course, and Sunday the only thing I watch now is is Mad Men and that isn't appointment TV for me, there are two unwatched eps on the DVR now. I'm tending toward renting movies from the Red Box kiosk. I am OK with this.
So, here are my requests/suggestions for Tuesday nights. If any of these changes occur, would be thrilled:
NBC: Chuck. On. Tuesday. Cut back juggernaut Biggest Loser to one hour, you will still be OK.
Fox: Fringe and Dollhouse, back to back. Your current lead-ins to Dollhouse, Brothers and 'Til Death, make no sense and do not capture the rabid fan-boy/girl base for the entire night. They are over at Sci-Fi during that hour and do not come back.
ABC: V will be on Tuesdays. Thank you. If LOST is set for Thursday night, Bones, VD or Fringe will have to go (hey FOX, are you paying attention here?).
The WB: We are all good, except Vampire Diaries might get staked in favor of Lost. Sorry about that, but thank you for trying.
That is all. Do with it what you will.
